Learning the Market: Inside the St. Rose Stock Market Club
Building Future Investors Through Real-World Learning and Teamwork
At St. Rose School, learning goes beyond textbooks, and our Stock Market Club is a perfect example of students applying real-world skills in exciting and meaningful ways.
This spring, club members participated in a virtual Stock Market Game, where each team was given a hypothetical $100,000 to invest. The simulation provided students with a realistic look into the global financial markets, challenging them to think critically, make strategic decisions, and adapt to changing economic conditions.
Under the guidance of their advisor, students developed essential financial literacy skills. They learned how to:
- Research companies using tools like Yahoo Finance
- Identify ticker symbols and analyze market data
- Read and interpret trendlines and performance graphs
- Understand how current events influence market behavior
More importantly, students were encouraged to think like investors, asking “why” trends occur and discussing the timing of decisions in both bull and bear markets.
Their hard work paid off in a big way. Competing against 268 teams across the region, St. Rose School achieved an impressive 2nd place overall advisor/school ranking, a remarkable accomplishment that reflects both dedication and teamwork.
Several student teams also earned standout rankings:
- Nolan & Xavier – 10th place
- Arabella, Olivia & Aashvi – 27th place
- AJ & Mac – 30th and 35th place
- Faith & Riley – 55th place
- Eleanor & Adela – 73rd place
Beyond the numbers, what makes the Stock Market Club so impactful is the confidence and curiosity it builds. Students are not only learning how markets work, they are learning how to think analytically, collaborate with peers, and make informed decisions in a fast-paced world.
At St. Rose, we are proud to offer opportunities like this that prepare our students for the future while keeping learning engaging and relevant. The success of our Stock Market Club is a true testament to what happens when curiosity meets opportunity.
Congratulations to all of our student investors on an outstanding season!
