Growing Something Beautiful: Kindergarten Celebrates Earth Day at St. Rose School

Planting Seeds of Faith, Stewardship, and Wonder

At St. Rose School, learning often goes beyond the classroom, and this Earth Day, our kindergarten students got their hands a little dirty in the best way possible.

With excitement and curiosity leading the way, our kindergartners celebrated Earth Day by planting sunflowers, a simple yet meaningful activity that brought together science, stewardship, and joy. Under the thoughtful guidance of Mrs. Bolender and Mrs. Scharf, students carefully filled pots with soil, planted their sunflower seeds, and began to understand how something so small can grow into something strong and beautiful.

This hands-on experience was about more than planting. Students explored the importance of caring for our environment, understanding how sunlight, water, and patience all play a role in helping living things grow. It was a lesson in responsibility, wonder, and appreciation for God’s creation.

As tiny hands worked together, so did big hearts, cheering each other on, sharing tools, and taking pride in their work. The classroom quickly transformed into a space full of curiosity and hope, with each planted seed representing the beginning of something new.

Over the coming weeks, students will continue to care for their sunflowers, watching them grow taller each day, a beautiful reminder of what can happen when we nurture something with love and intention.

At St. Rose, moments like these are what make learning come alive. Through experiences rooted in faith, community, and creativity, our students are not only growing academically, they’re growing into thoughtful stewards of the world around them.

🌻 Happy Earth Day from our kindergarteners!
