Students teamed up with their grade buddies for a morning of bingo, prizes, laughter, and lasting memories.

Following Mass, students gathered in the Gathering Hall for one of St. Rose School's favorite end-of-year traditions, Buddy Bingo! Filled with laughter, excitement, and friendly competition, the event brought together students and their grade-level buddies for a memorable morning of fun and fellowship.

As bingo numbers were called, students eagerly checked their cards, cheered one another on, and celebrated winning prizes. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for older and younger students to spend time together, strengthening the special relationships that have been built throughout the school year through our Buddy Program.

A special thank you goes to our enthusiastic Bingo announcers, rising 7th graders, Ryan and Grayson, who kept the games moving and the energy high throughout the event. We would also like to recognize our prize coordinators, rising eighth graders Mason and Blake, for helping organize and distribute prizes to our lucky winners.

Events like Buddy Bingo are a wonderful reminder of what makes the St. Rose community so special. Through faith, friendship, leadership, and service, our students continue to create meaningful connections that extend across grade levels and help foster a strong sense of belonging for all.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Buddy Bingo a fun and successful celebration for our students!

Rooted in Faith, Prepared for Success

Graduation Day marked an important milestone in the lives of our graduates as they gathered with family, friends, faculty, staff, and members of the St. Rose community to celebrate their accomplishments and the completion of their elementary school journey. We were honored to be joined by our clergy and religious; Father Peter Cipriani, Father Cajetan, Father Flynn, and our Pastor Emeritus Monsignor Robert E. Weiss, along with Sister Thaddeus and the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard, whose presence made the occasion even more special.

All graduates participated in the celebration of the Graduation Liturgy, reflecting on the blessings of their time at St. Rose School and offering prayers of gratitude for the teachers, families, and classmates who supported them along the way.  During Mass, each student proudly crossed the altar to receive a diploma, celebrating the culmination of years of dedication, perseverance, and academic effort. Their commitment to learning and their strong work ethic have led to outstanding growth and achievement throughout their journey at St. Rose School.

Throughout the ceremony, there was a strong sense of joy, pride, and gratitude as we recognized not only the academic accomplishments of our graduates but also the character, leadership, and faith they developed during their time at St. Rose School.

As they prepare to begin the next chapter of their educational journey, our graduates will continue their education at some of the region’s most outstanding high schools. Twelve members of the Class of 2026 will attend Immaculate High School, five will attend St. Joseph High School, three will attend Newtown High School, one will attend Henry Abbott Technical High School, and one will attend John F. Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School.

We are confident that the Class of 2026 will continue to embody the values of respect, reverence, and responsibility as they move forward on their journey. May God bless each student with wisdom, courage, faith, and success in the years ahead, guiding them toward a bright and fulfilling future.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! We are proud of you and look forward to seeing all that you will accomplish!

A step back in time to discover the people, places, and stories that shaped Newtown's history.

Mrs. Winington's second-grade class recently took learning beyond the classroom during a walking field trip to several historic sites in Newtown.

The day began with a visit to the Matthew Curtiss House, a historic home constructed in 1750 that preserves many fascinating pieces of Connecticut history. Students toured the home room by room while a volunteer from the Newtown Historical Society shared stories and insights about daily life in Newtown more than 200 years ago. They learned how families lived, worked, cooked, and completed everyday tasks during colonial times, gaining a deeper appreciation for the area's rich heritage.

The class also visited Edmond Town Hall, where they explored additional chapters of Newtown's history. Students learned about the town's first post office, police headquarters, jail, movie theater, and other important landmarks and events that helped shape the community they call home today.

This hands-on learning experience allowed students to connect their classroom studies to real-life historical sites while developing a greater understanding of Newtown's past. We are grateful to the Newtown Historical Society and Edmond Town Hall for helping bring local history to life for our students.

Learning about the people, places, and stories that helped build our community was a memorable experience and a wonderful way for Mrs. Winington's second-grade class to explore history right in their own backyard.
