We welcome you to the St. Rose School web site. We would like to acquaint you with our programs and to enable currently enrolled students and parents to access specific grade level requirements, general school policies, procedures and forms. We are also happy to present weekly school information, including a preview of upcoming events. St. Rose School is a suburban Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 Catholic School that is committed to educate the whole child within the framework of an academically excellent faith based community. As the top performing school in the Diocese of Bridgeport, our school was recognized as a candidate for the national 2008 Blue Ribbon award. We attribute our success to providing a standard based program that introduces varied cultural, moral and social issues across the curriculum and to maintaining a focus on the diverse learning styles and developmental stages of our students. An average of twelve students in our Pre-Kindergarten classes, twenty-three students in Kindergarten-Grade 5 classes and a Grade 6-8 middle school program that provides an average of fifteen students per class, enables us to focus on our mission to maintain a proactive environment that “educates children in a faith-based community that is committed to fostering spiritual growth, responsibility, and service to others while developing a foundation for individual academic excellence."
It is our continuous self-evaluation that provides an educational
experience that empowers every child to succeed. Clergy, administrators,
faculty and the staff at St. Rose School work collaboratively to nurture
student skills and to encourage the development and implementation of
Christian values with the intent that each student will become
responsible in their Church, community and country. Our School was built in 1958. We currently enroll 408 students from 280 families who come to us from Newtown, Southbury, Shelton, Monroe, Bethel, Danbury and Woodbury, among others. Our campus is located in the heart of Newtown next to the Parish of St. Rose of Lima Church. We have a fully equipped computer facility for student work, a state-of-the-art science laboratory, a library that houses over 6,000 volumes, and athletic fields that serve our students for outdoor activities. A building campaign to further improve our facilities is ongoing. The 2007-08 building construction timeline will provide students and faculty with an improved media center, gym, cafeteria and theater in September 2008. Contacts:
