
Each student at St. Rose
School is recognized as God’s unique
creation.
St.
Rose School has an open-admission policy. Entrance exams are administered
in grades K through 8. Admission is contingent upon an interview as well
as previous school records and our entrance exams.
Pre-School Admissions
Programs
offered are based upon enrollment needs and are subject to change
annually. Our traditional program registration and eligibility
requirements are as follows:
Pre-Kindergarten Three-Year-Old Program (2 days) children must be three
by December 31st and fully toilet trained.
Pre-Kindergarten Four-Year-Old Program (3 days) children must be four by
December 31st.
Pre-Kindergarten Four-Year-Old Program (4 days) children must be four by
June 30th.
Pre-Kindergarten Five-Year-Old Program (5 days) children must be five by
March 31st.
Priority Of Admission for Pre-School:
In the
admission of students to St. Rose Pre-Kindergarten, priority is as
follows:

Re-registrants of current St. Rose program

Incoming
siblings of current St. Rose students

Children
of St. Rose School Alumni

Children
of registered parishioners of St. Rose Parish

Children
from families in other local Catholic Parishes

Non-Catholic students who, on the basis of personal interview,
with the principal and pastor are admitted based upon their
decision that the intent and motivation to enroll are in accordance
with the highest ideals of Catholic education.
Elementary/Intermediate/Middle School
Admissions
Kindergarten and First Grade Screening
The age requirements for admittance to
Kindergarten or Grade One is in accordance with that of the Newtown Public
School System. Kindergarten students must be five years of age by
December 31st. Students who apply for admission to
St.
Rose School in Kindergarten and Grade 1 will be administered a
standardized screening. The primary purpose of this screening is to
obtain a broad sampling of a student’s skills and behaviors for one or
more of the following reasons;
a.
To
assist the screening team in evaluating a child’s developmental readiness
skills.
b.
To
help determine the most appropriate initial placement or grouping of
students.
Transfer Student Placement Testing
Students who are seeking to transfer to
St.
Rose School will be evaluated according to a curriculum-based assessment
program. Careful perusal of the students’ transcript records is necessary
prior to acceptance.

Diocesan Office of Education would be required.
