2007/2008 Student Handbook

Elementary School

The Elementary School :    Grades K through 4

Faculty members provide regular opportunities for children to develop strong self-esteem and self-achievement while promoting growth of the entire child.  Students share meaningful learning activities every day both through play and through classroom experiences.  Beginning in Kindergarten, reading resource programs such as SRA and Explode the Code are used to encourage active individual reading strategies and ability.  St. Rose provides a full-day Kindergarten which allows students to cultivate an educational experience that is positive and allows them to reinforce social and academic skills in preparation for their first grade experience.  The educational experience provided by faculty in grades one through four assist children in all core subjects to develop an understanding of concepts through communication, assessment, activities, stories, field trips, and dramatic play.  The integration of essential skills such as spelling, vocabulary, reading, mathematics, computer, art and music make the learning experience at these levels very meaningful.
