December News Flash
December
is very busy in Grade 2P. We began the Advent season by making our
Advent wreaths to hang on our bulletin board along with the message to
Prepare Ye the Way of The Lord. We have started our
Advent activity, which will change each week during Advent. The first
week we chose to say something nice and truly meaningful to each member
of our families. The class reported how happy some older brothers and
sisters were when they were told, “I want to be like you.” Smiles were
found in the homes as our activity progressed throughout the week.
The second week of
Advent will find the 2P class doing some helping hands work at home to
show our love and care for others.
We will brainstorm
activities for the last 2 weeks of Advent.
Straw Activity -
One piece of straw will be
added to our manger as each child is found being helpful or kind to
others throughout Advent. By Christmas, we will have prepared a nice
soft bed for our Savior as we celebrate Christmas.
Beat the Clock
math has us brushing up on our
number fact. We are up to 31 facts in one minute with flash
cards flying as the minute ticks by.
We are also making
our own flash cards each Friday morning to take home and practice for
the Beat the Clock math warm up.
Science
class is very busy as we think and
investigate using inquires to discover and answer questions. We just
finished our study of mammals and are continuing to study living things
by investigating fish, reptiles, and amphibians. We will be sorting and
classifying our living things using a graphic organizer.
Language Arts
is rolling along and keeping
2P writing, writing, writing! We just finished writing recipes for
friendship. These recipes included ingredients for a good friendship
along with directions on putting the friendship together.
We started to
brainstorm our ideas for an informative report. Lots of excitement was
generated when we discovered we could write about the living things we
are studying in science. Everyone got so excited that voices could be
heard saying, “I call monkeys, I call manatees!” Soon everyone was
planning his or her informative report with great excitement!
Religion
class has us writing our book of the
Ten Commandments as we continue to study for the reception of the
Sacrament of Reconciliation. We are learning how to examine our
conscience using the Ten Commandments as a guide to question our choices
to see if they were loving or unloving.
We wish you an
Advent filled with joy while we are waiting and preparing our hearts for
the coming of our Lord.
Merry Christmas
and God Bless us, Everyone!
