Reading
The Crucible
Students will read Arthur Millers’ play about the Salem Witch Trials.
Writing
Students will choose 3 assignments from their Independent Writing
Contract,
final due date is Dec. 2nd. All work to be completed in class. The only
work to be done at home is research for writing assignments.
Spelling/Vocabulary
Three lessons from The Crucible, each week words are due and quiz is
given on Thursday. Test will be given on all three lessons.
Grammar
Students are covering verbs- action and linking, tense of verbs, as well
as regular and irregular verbs.
Poetry
Students have been working on their personal Poetry Book entitled 10
Days of Poetry. Students will choose their best poems to be submitted to
a poetry contest by December 1st.
Science Horizons
Students have completed their outline and notecards for their
experiments.
Once Science Horizons approves topic, students will complete their
research essay. These are both science grade as well as English grades.
Summer Reading List:
Entering 8th Grade Choose one book from each category and write a book
report for each using the guidelines on the reverse side of this paper.
