The Wonderful
World of Fourth Grade
The Lion, the
Witch, and the Wardrobe
We have started our literature unit on The Lion, the Witch,
and the Wardrobe and the children are very excited about it. We are
exploring many different areas with this book including making
connections, descriptive writing, critical thinking, sequencing,
determining main idea, and using the text for support when answering
questions. This unit will include quizzes, writing, projects, and an
end of book assessment.
Maritime Center
Trip
Our first field trip is approaching quickly. The trip is on Thursday
October 27, 2005. We will depart St. Rose School at 8:30 am and will
return at approximately 2:30 pm. Please remember to send your child
with a bag lunch. We will not be visiting the gift shop, so there will
be no need to send money with your child. Thank you for all the parents
that volunteered to chaperone the trip.
Community
Service Project
For our
community service project, the fourth grade will be doing a Christmas
for the Troops drive. We will be collecting items that troops fighting
over seas need and will be making cards and writing letters to send them
some Christmas cheer. We will be collecting goods starting on Tuesday
November 1, 2005 and continue until Thursday November 10, 2005. Any
parents that would like to volunteer their time on Thursday November 10,
to help pack the boxes for the troops, please let Miss Kemlage know as
soon as possible.
